We have two events lined up for the next week; on Wednesday (October 22nd) we have the first meeting of the English Society Undergraduate Creative Writing Group. This will be a weekly meeting for anyone interested in writing (poetry, prose, drama, journalism or anything else). This meeting will be a chance for undergraduate writers to share some work or ideas. Bring something that you have written recently (but don't worry if you don't).
The guest for this meeting will be Professor Michael Longley. Michael Longley was awarded the position of Professor of Poetry for Ireland and has published 8 collections of poetry. He will be present to give informal advice to anyone who seeks help with their writing.
These are the details to keep in your head:
Undergraduate Creative Writing Group Wednesday October 22nd, 4pm - 5pm Meeting in the entrance to 4 University Square. Special Guest: Professor Michael Longley.
First of all, cheers for everyone for coming to the party in Catalyst last week. Hopefully it gave the new guys a good start and got the momentum up for people who have been through it all before. Check out the photos at the bottom of the page and look forward to more photos in AU magazine.
Next week we're back with more for you all. The first Poetry and Pints night will be held in Bookfinders Cafe (facing the Seamus Heaney Centre and just round the corner from the main entrance to the School of English) and, you'll love this, it's bring your own drink again. The doors will open at 7.30pm and it will all be getting under way at around half 8. There will be some Open Mic spaces near the start.
As always, any questions can be sent to email@example.com.
The "Secret Party" will be on the 24th of September in Catalyst Art Gallery, College Court. The party is entirely free, doors opening at 8.30pm and staying open until late (and to top it all off you can BRING YOUR OWN DRINK). This is free for anyone, student or not, and the more people the better. A group of people are meeting outside the Student's Union at 8.30pm sharp for people who don't know how to find the place.
